It also helped me to realize the Bible does not say it is the word of God. Jesus is the living, inerrant Word of God. So now, a book that leads us to the Word does not have to be perfect nor inerrant.
We also must realize that the truth within the Bible is multilayered. It is like an onion or the petals of a flower - each layer is true even though it reveals different aspects of truth. And many, if not most, of those layers of truth reveal esoteric rather than exoteric truth.
