I like the perspective you present here Josh. It helps explain the awkward genocidal tendency of an Old Testament god, in stark contrast to the universal loving kindness of a later evolved Christ. The God that “IS” Love, is infinite, eternal, universal and unchanging. It’s our human perception that shifts, changes and hopefully evolves for the better over time. The Old Testament reflects a more primitive humanity, and their own distorted projected image and understanding of deity. The New Testament reflects a more evolved humanity, an awaken heart, and a similarly expanding understanding of God expressed in the embodied unconditional Love of Christ. If we take this analogy further, the return of Christ can be understood as a further evolution of human consciousness, and our collective intrinsic moral integrity - expressed through the awakening of the human Soul - the Christ consciousness, and seat of unconditional Love - within each and every one of us…

I’m a few months into rediscovering faith, a big part of which has been realizing how fluid it is – how my faith now, after a roughly 10 years-long break, need not be what it was when I was a teenager going to church only because my family did. This article is putting words to that, helping me understand it in a deeper way. Thank you!
